Egyptian finalist guaranteed
as English bow out in Guatemala
 An
Egyptian finalist is guaranteed in Guatemala after quarter-final
victories for Omar Mosaad and Mohamed Abouelghar in
the top half of the draw.
Top seed Mosaad came recovered from losing the opening game to beat
Australia's Ryan Cuskelly in four, while there was no repeat of
Abouelghar's first round escape as he beat Dutch qualifier Piedro
Schweertman in three close games.
The bottom half of the draw also saw the end of the line for a first
round giantkiller as Scottish #5 seed Alan Clyne beat Eddie
Charlton in straight games. Mexico's #6 seed Cesar Salazar
also beat English opposition, upsetting Chris Simpson in four games.

grab Guatemala upsets
 The
first round saw two big upsets as Eddie Charlton and
Piedro Schweertman grabbed unexpected quarter-final places.
 Englishman
Charlton came from two games down to beat second seed Marwan
Elshorbagy, while Dutch qualifier Schweertman recovered from a game
down to beat fourth-seeded Adrian Grant.
Elsewhere Egypt's Mohamed Abouelghar came from two games down
to deny world junior champion Diego Elias an upset, while there were
comfortable three-nil wins for #1, #3 and #5 seeds Omar Mosaad,
Chris Simpson and Alan Clyne.
