In the final it was the top two seeds Kamran Khan and Elvinn Keo.
Khan started the match smoothly and built up a 7-0 lead.
Keo started to respond but Kahn finished the 1st game 11-8.
In the 2nd and 3rd, Keo kept his pace well. He especially
had great kill shots in the 3rd.
He took the lead in the 4th until 6-1, but Kahn showed great
persistence and finally got a come back win. The match went to the
decider.
In the final game, Kahn was the one to have the first match ball;
however, Keo was able to bring the game to a tie break.
Then, Keo had a match ball which Kahn saved. In the end,
Kahn finished the match at 13-11.
It was the longest match of the tournament, and surely as
entertaining as a final should be. |

05-Nov, Semis:
Top seeds reach Kansai final
The first semi-final, between Kamran Khan and Chris Fuller, was
fairly one sided for Kahn until 8-0 in the 1st game.
However, Fuller picked up his pace afterwards and they were tied
1-1. Both gave riveting performances in the 3rd and 4th, but in the
end Kahn's excellence showed through.
We would like to note that the match was 83 minutes long, however,
one of the causes was repeated mopping due to the court condition.
In the second semi Elvinn Keo and James Huang tested each
other until 4-4 in the 1st game, then Keo started to dominate the
rallies. Huang chased Keo to the tie break, but Keo succeeded to
escape. 1-0 Keo.
However, in the 2nd, Huang took control of the game. 1-1. Huang had
a lead until 6-3 in the 3rd, but Keo came back strong and won the
game. 2-1 Keo.
In the 4th, many of Huang’s shots found a nick and it gave him an
11-4 win. The match went to the decider.
Both gave all they had; neither of them wanted to give anything
away.
Keo took the final game 11-9, but it was a superb match with no
loser.

04-Nov, Quarters:
Khan tested in Kansai quarters
Top
seed Kamran Khan took the first game comfortably against Karim Ali
Fathi, but the Egyptian made stunning shots one after another in the
second, thus forcing Kamran to give up the game. Until 6-6 in the
3rd, they fought hard but neither one could gain an advantage;
however, after Kamran won the 7th point, he was able to take control
of the match.
He meets third seed Chris Fuller while the other semi-final is
between James Huang of Taipei and Malaysia's Elvinn Keo. |
