Pilatus Cup 2014
27-31 May, Kriens, Switzerland, $5k |
31-May:
Fallows gets his first
PSA days before his 19th
Mario Tschopp reports
In the morning semi-finals, unfortunately both remaining Swiss players lost. Benjamin
Fischer
and Reiko Peter both managed to catch a game but finally got defeated 1-3.
This led us to an English/Egyptian final with Zahed Mohamed playing
against Richie Fallows.
Mohamed took the first game but didn't look very
fresh.
Fallows never let go and set Mohamed under pressure and finally won
the final 3-1.
For Mohamed it was the second loss in the final
of the Pilatus Cup as he already lost against Jens Schoor last year,
while for Fallows, the reigning European Junior Champion, it was a
first PSA title just before his 19th birthday.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am,” Fallows told
essexjuniorsquash.com. "I believed in myself before the game with
Zahed and knew if I kept my head, I was in with a chance of winning.
“This was the big one for me. I’ve dreamed of the win for so many
years. Winning England and British titles as a junior has been
wonderful, but this is so thrilling. With luck and hard work in the
future, I will be able to win others, but I will never forget my
first PSA victory."

30-May:
Swiss double in Pilatus Cup quarters
Mario Tschopp reports
Today three Swiss competed for a place in the Pilatus Cup semis and
with wins for Benjamin Fischer and Reiko Peter two of them managed
to get through, so tomorrow the home crowed can cheer for a local in
both semis.
Of course everybody is hoping to see at least one swiss in the
final, but it won't be easy as Fischer meets top sed Zahed
Mohamed played really nice Squash against André Haschker who dug in
and fought till the end.
The fourth player in the semis is Richie Fallows who had a very
close encounter against Tim Weber in which he managed to come back
after being two games behind.
But the match of the day was Peter against Patrick Meischer. In a
very close five game thriller Reiko pushed his way into the semis.
Let's hope for more Swiss success tomorrow ... |
