Beans takes over where big sis left off ...
Tina Fuselli reports
Sabrina Sobhy wins her first WSA title to keep the Western States
dominance going for the family !
[3] Sabrina Sobhy
3-2 [4] Maria Toor Pakay
6-11, 11-6, 11-7, 7-11,
11-5 (48m)
Both
girls came out with a game plan with Maria taking the first game
before Sabrina took the next two. All eyes were on Sabrina thinking
she was going to win the fourth at the match but Maria had other
plans
The fifth game showed some amazing acrobatics with Sabrina diving
across the court to retrieve a short ball. Thinking she had won the
point, could not believe the pick up was good and threw her racket
it total disgust, referee awarded a conduct warning but who could
blame her!

The audience was in awe at the dive only ever seeing men do this!
"So happy for my sister beans for winning her first ever WSA
tournament!!" tweeted Amanda. "So proud of her! #backtobacksobhywins"

Sobhy takes home hopes into Phoenix final
Tina Fuselli reports
It will be the third and fourth seeds who contest the final of the
inaugural Mercedes of Scottsdale tournament in Phoenix, Arizona,
after Sabrina Sobhy beat compatriot Kristen Lange - who had
beaten the top seed in the previous round - and Maria Toor
Pakay beat second seed Carrie Ramsey.
Hot
off her victory from last night, Kristen full of confidence came our
hard and fast, narrowly missing out in the first game 11-9 but
gained the upper hand at 6-6 in the second.
But then Sabrina came on with better shotmaking to convincingly take
the third and fourth games.
Maria
and Carrie both came out in the first two games with determination.
It was nip and tuck as they took a game each. In the third Maria
started to take control and despite Carrie's determination Maria
prevailed to take the match.

First time for Scottsdale
The 2013 Mercedes of Scottsdale Tournament kicks off today at the
Camelback Village Racquet & Health Club in Phoenix, Arizona, as part
of the larger Phoenix Motor Company Annual Holiday Racquet Sports
Tournament.
2013 is the first year that the 500-person joint tennis,
squash, and racquetball tournament will feature a professional
women’s event.
“This is our first year hosting a pro women’s event, so we have
started small with hopes for the tournament to grow each year,” said
tournament director Tina Fuselli.

Frogs' Talk

Salut Fram,
matin!
A demain

21-Nov, Round One:
Tina Fuselli reports
Thaisa
Serafine bt Ivonne Diaz
A nervous start from both players as the first match on court with
two friends plying each other. Both Thaisa and Ivonne felt good but
it was down to who could settle first.
Ivonne struggled up front and committed too many unforced errors.
Thaisa started strong with long rallies but Ivonne couldnt find a
finish. The third game was much better but by that time Thaisa had
total control.
Sabrina Sobhy bt Larissa Stephenson
Larissa came out firing in the first game with a sluggish start from
Sabrina who was probably a little tired from her last two weeks of
flying around the country.
In the second game Sabrina found her rhythm and coped with the
conditions to play tighter and more controlled shots.
Kristen Lange bt Franzisca Hennes
The longest match of the tournament so far with newcomer Franzisca
coming out attacking. There were a lot of lets being played and
eventually Franzisca capitulated in the third when decisions didnt
go her way.
Kristens experience paid off. When she settled she took the match
comfortably but Franzisca is one to watch for the future.
Salma Nasser bt Karina Heredia
Top seed Salma was in no mood to hang around today. She attacked
from the start and Karina had no answer to the Egyptians superior
racket handling.
Cyrielle Peltier bt Cori Schaeffer
The younger yet more experienced player quickly decided to take
control over her inexperienced opponent by moviong her around the
court in every direction.
Cyrielle after said "Cori will soon improve the more tournament
experience she gets. But for now I was glad to get while she was
still new"
Maria Toor Pakay bt Jaycee Spagrud
This match was dedicated to Adrian Dudzilki. Both said they found it
extremely difficult to get motivated for this match after hearing
yesterdays tragic news of fellow Canadian squash player and training
partner who lost his life on his way to the national training center.
Adrian was part of the national squash academy family. Everyone knew
him as a great guy, strong squash competitor and true friend. As
many if the squash communities around the world paid tribute to
Adrians life they both agreead and wanted to dedicate their match in
respect of adrian.
Diana Garcia bt Julia LaCoq
First shock of the day with a surprise victory by the lower ranked
Diana. This was a fast hard pace game, attacking from the get go
with very few long rallies.
Carrie Ramsay bt Fernanda Rocha
Carrie had seen Fernanda play in LA last week where Fernanda had
some great results. She knew she had to be in control from the off.
Fernanda played well but couldnt break Carries rhythm.
