Ford takes Perth title
Andrew Dent reports
Englishman
Ben Ford made the most of his flying visit to Australia when he beat
Mike Corren to take out the City of Perth International squash
tournament in Perth on Sunday.
The top seeded Ford claimed his third professional title with the
11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 13-11 win over Corren, the second seed who was
playing in a main tour final for the 30th time in a career spanning
11 years.
Ford, 33, and Corren, 34, both overcame younger Queenslanders to
reach the final.
Ford outlasted 21-year-old Nathan Stevenson in five games 13-11,
8-11, 11-9, 12-14, 11-4, while Corren downed 23-year-old Luke
Forster 11-8, 11-5, 11-6.
Ford and Corren will be the top two seeds again next week when the
tour moves to the historic gold mining town of Kalgoorlie for the
Golden Open.
