It's Ten For Tuominen
At Pacific Athletic Club Open

Finn Olli Tuominen marked up the tenth PSA title of his career at the Pacific Athletic Club Open after beating Canadian Shahier Razik in the final at the Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood City in California.

The 30-year-old from Helsinki dropped just one game en-route to his 15th Tour final, dismissing unexpected opponent Stephane Galifi, the No7 seed from Italy, in straight games in the semi-finals.

Second seed Razik celebrated his fourth successive appearance in a Tour semi-final in North America this month by beating defending champion Julian Illingworth, the No3 seed from New York, in a hard-fought 65-minute straight games encounter.

But top seed Tuominen was in control from the outset in the final, winning 11-7, 11-2, 12-10 in 58 minutes to secure his second trophy of the year after winning the Finnish Open on home soil last month for the third time.

Galifi Makes Pacific Athletic Club Semis

Seventh-seeded Italian Stephane Galifi claimed an unexpected place in the semi-finals of the Pacific Athletic Club Open after overcoming Malta's Bradley Hindle in the quarter-finals.

Hindle, a qualifier, reached the last eight after upsetting New Zealand's fourth seed Martin Knight in the opening round.

And the Netherlands-based 29-year-old stretched Galifi, the world No58 from Aix-en-Provence, for four games and 65 minutes before the No7 seed finally clinched his 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 16-14 victory.

Galifi will now face top-seeded Finn Olli Tuominen for a place in the final.

The other semi-final will be an all-North American clash between defending champion Julian Illingworth, the No3 seed from New York, and Canada's second seed Shahier Razik, from Toronto.

Record six-time US national champion Illingworth took just 30 minutes to despatch Jan Koukal, the No8 seed from the Czech Republic, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5, while Razik ended New Zealand interest in the event by beating fifth seed Campbell Grayson 12-10, 12-10, 11-4 in 50 minutes.


Hindle Stops Knight
In Pacific Athletic Club Upset


Malta qualifier Bradley Hindle pulled off the only upset in the first round of the Pacific Athletic Club Open when he beat fourth seed Martin Knight to reach the quarter-finals of the at the Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood City in California.

The Netherlands-based 29-year-old downed New Zealander Knight 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 and will now meet seventh-seeded Italian Stephane Galifi for a place in the semi-finals.

Defending champion Julian Illingworth, the third seed from New York who is leading US interest in the event, despatched Australian qualifier Wade Johnstone 12-10, 11-8, 11-2 in just 28 minutes to earn his anticipated place in the last eight.
