13-Mar, Finals:
Briggs & Cuskelly Capture KL Crowns

England's Lauren Briggs and Australian Ryan Cuskelly emerged triumphant in the finals of the NSC Series No3 event at the Bukit Jalil National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Cuskelly, second seed in the men's event, faced surprise opponent seventh seed Waqar Mehboob in the final. The 17-year-old had ousted top-seeded compatriot Shahid Zaman in the quarter-finals en-route to his first appearance in a Tour final.

But the New York-based 21-year-old from New South Wales was too strong for Peshawar teenager Mehboob, winning 11-7, 11-8, 11-3 in 37 minutes to claim the third PSA title of his career – but the first outside his home country.

Top seed Briggs came through a tough quarter-final in the women's event – recovering from two games down to beat Australia's fifth seed Lisa Camilleri.

The 29-year-old world No20 from London faced local star Sharon Wee in the final. The Malacca-born 31-year-old – ranked five places lower – was celebrating her second successive final appearance in the NSC Series events in KL.

Wee battled for 30 minutes, but it was Briggs who prevailed, winning 11-4, 11-3, 11-8 to collect the fifth Tour title of her career in her eighth final appearance.
