03-Mar, Finals:
Whitlock and Sabry take KL titles
England's
top seed Emily Whitlock, having survived three match balls in
her nailbiting semi-final victory, went on to claim the title in the
NSC Series #3 event at Kuala Lumpur's National Squash Centre as she
beat Malaysian second seed Siti Munirah Jusoh 11/7, 9/11, 11/8, 11/3
in a 45-minute final.
"Siti got a bit tired in the closing stages and slowed down a bit,
giving Emily the edge," commented Malaysian coach Raymond Arnold,
whose daughter Whitlock beat in the first round.
18-year-old Whitlock, ranked #1 in the WSF junior rankings, was
playing in KL in preference to defending her English junior title
this weekend, and the victory marks her second senior WSA title
having also won the Finnish Open finale last month.
The men's final saw third seeded Egyptian Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry
prevail 11/7, 8/11, 11/3, 11/4 over fourth seeded Spaniard Alejandro
Garbi to claim him first PSA title.
