Tim Dixon bt Steve Davis 6-11 11-5 11-7 11-7 34m
Walkover to Luton & Dunstable
This looked like it was going to be a very competitive tie
indeed, with two squash heavy weights battling it out for
the 3rd place trophy. Nottingham started off well, as Tim
Dixon took on Luton’s captain Steve Davies. It was well
contested but Tim stayed focused and took the match 3-1.
Luton’s top string Adrian Waller won his match 3-0
relatively comfortably, to take the tie to one match all.
It was now down to the 2nd and 3rd strings to fight it out.
Luton’s Adam Auckland and Adam Giles took on Nick Hargreaves
and Neil Rossin who put up a great fight, but with a 5th
string withdrawal from Nottingham Luton persevered and took
the tie 4-1.

Wellington dominated from the beginning of this mens o45 3/4
play off tie. Vincent Palickza took on Tom Machell to kick
off the tie. It was closely contested with Tom taking the
first game, but Vincent played some lovely squash to take
the match 3-1.
Graham Hooper came up against Adrian Alcock. After an epic
first game which Adrian won 10-8, Graham pulled it back and
won 3-1, giving Wellington the 3rd place trophy. Top strings

Gary came through on top to make it a full house for

Ebbisham stormed to their first Mens O55 National Title with
a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Hallamshire. The Mens O55

a good start with a 3-1 win over Wendy Morris, only for
Rachel Pullan to pull one back in Trent Bridges favour with
a clinical 3-0 win over Claire Kedward.
It all came down to the second strings. Alice Clarke had the
advantage after 3 games with a 2-1 lead, only for Trent
Bridges captain Alison Goy to come storming back strong to
take the last two games and the victory 3-2.
Racketball Final
Queens 4- Bishops Stortford

David Hymas bt Jake Byrne 11-7 11-2 11-5 22m
James Lynch lt Mark Thornley 6-11 8-11 5-11 33m
Previous Racketball champions, Queens, have made a 3rd title
at this years National Clubs finals. Bishops Stortford had a
promising start with their 5th string player, Jake Byrne
beating Queen’s James Lynch 3-0 in a very convincing match
Next up for Queens it was Matt Sidaway taking on Matt
Cutchey.
This was an epic battle in which both players played some
superb racketball. Sidaway just clinched the first game
12-10, and then went on to win the match 3-0. The score does
not do justice to this compelling match. Queens then went on
to gain wins from James Earles and David Hymas, who both won
their matches convincingly 3-0.
Top string players David Campion and Nick Mulvey were in the
middle of a great match when Nick Mulvey had to with draw
due to injuries, meaning Queens won the title 4 matches to
1.
Mens O45 Final
Nottingham 0-3 Harpenden
Matt Oxley lt Eamonn Price 9-5 3-9 9-7 9-2 50m
Gawain Briars lt Andrew Eilfield 10-8 9-1 9-7 18m
Andrew Foley lt Marvin Rust 9-7 9-3 9-3 36m
Two time returning champions Harpenden had a tough tie
against Nottingham who are also previuos winners. Marvin
Rust of Harpenden got them off to a great start beating
Andrew Foley 3-0 in a highly competitive match.
Top strings Matt Oxley from Nottingham had the incredibly
hard task of taking on well known player Eamonn Price. Oxley
put up a great fight and won the 2nd game 9-3. Price proved
too strong for Oxley in the end and Price came through to
win the trophy for Harpenden.
Although a dead rubber Briars and Eilfield played their
match and Eilfield took the final match in a convincing 18
minutes, to give Harpdenden a 3-0 victory.
Mens O35 Final
Bexley 2-3 Moreton Hall

Chris Tomlinson bt Ian Cox 9-11 11-6 11-6 20m
Matt Green lt Dave Gouldby 8-11 9-11 6-11 19m
Ron Ganz lt Martin Levens 8-11 11-6 11-6 13-11 49m
Rob Lewis lt Peter Alexander 11-1 11-4 11-6 19m
This was one of the best and most competitive ties of the
day. Moreton Hall got off to a great start with 4th and 5th
strings, Martin Levens and Peter Alexander claiming wins
over their opponents, Ron Ganz and Rib Lewis.
Bexley responded well and number one string Ben Ford took on
Jamie Goodrich in what was one of the most competitive
matches of the tournament. The score line of 3-0 to Ford
does not do justice to just how compelling the match was.
With another win from 2nd string Chris Tomlinson, Bexley
were back level at 2-2, and it all came down to the 3rd
strings Matt Green of Bexley and Dave Gouldby of Moreton
Hall. Gouldby made quick work of it and took the win for
Moreton Hall in an impressive 19 minutes.
Women's Final
Pontefract 4-1 Kenilworth
Emma Beddoes lt Sarah Jane Perry 10-12 11-8 13-11 11-6
60m
Deon Saffery bt Jenny Wright 11-13 11-7 11-8 18m
Orla Noom bt Chloe Pearson 11-9 11-8 11-4 20m
Katie Smith bt Genevieve Gay 11-2 11-9 11-2 15m
Sarah Bowles bt Carolyn Lindsay 11-2 11-9 11-7 15m
Defending champions Pontefract took on Kenilworth in what
shaped up to be a great final. Katie Smith and Sarah Bowles
of Pontefract made a great start with respective 3-0 wins
over their opponents; Genevieve Gay and Carolyn Lindsay.
The top strings Emma Beddoes and Sarah-Jane Perry was an
extremely entertaining match in which both players played
some of the best squash of the tournament. The first 3 games
where incredibly close with two games setting at 12-10 and
13-11. During the 4th game Beddoes looked as though she was
carrying a slight injury but played through it and just lost
out to Perry 11-6, to give Perry the win.
The 2nd and 3rd strings from Pontefract Deon Saffrey and
Orla Noom made no mistake and each won their matches 3-0, to
give Pontefract their 12th women’s title.
Mens Final
Colets 5-0 Pontefract
Jon Kemp bt Adam Taylor 11-4 11-6 11-4 21m
Scott Handley bt Sam Wileman 11-5 11-7 11-8 19m
Richie Fallows bt Alex Hodgetts 11-6 11-9 12-10 38m
Alex Gough bt Taminder Gata Aura 11-2 19-17 7-11 11-9 47m
Clive Ewins bt Ben Hodgetts 3-11 6-11 4-11 22m
Colets are back in better shape than ever and looking for
their 12th Men’s title. Pontefract have played exceptionally
well to get to the final, and so the tie looked like it
could be highly contested.
Colets Old Guards Alex Gough and Clive Ewins started things
off with wins over Pontefract’s Taminda Gata Aura and Ben
Hodgetts. Gata Aura did not sit down and let Gough win
easily however. In a 47 minute match Gough had to overcome a
long 2nd game which he just took 19-17, and then a 3rd game
defeat 11-7. Gough stayed strong though and finally took the
win 3-1.
Colets were 2-0 up when Junior Richie Fallows stepped on
court to take on Pontefracts Alex Hodgetts. Hodgett’s
experience showed through and he played some fabulous drop
shots and great angled shots, but these were not enough to
overcome the stamina and strength of Fallows who took the
match and the title for Colets in 3 straight games.
Colet’s top 2 strings Jon Kemp and Scott Handley also won
their respective matches 3-0 to make it a full house for
Colets and their 12th Men’s title.

Racketball Semi Final 1
Queens bt Nottingham
David Campion bt Alistair Gorrie 14-12 11-7 11-8 30m
James Earles bt Jon Underhill 11-8 11-7 11-5 35m

David Hymas bt Neil Rossin 11-1 11-4 17-15 36m
James Lynch bt Jack Levandowski 11-4 11-2 11-2 20m
James Lynch and Matt Sidaway kicked off the days action in
the first Racketball Semi Final and gave Queens a brilliant
head start with both winning their matches 3-0. It 8was then
down to the number one strings, David Campion against
Nottinghams Alistair Gorrie.
The first game was tight, both players matching each other
point for point taking it into a tie break which Campion
took 14-12. The second and third games followed a similar
pattern, lots of drops and boasts with both players being
pushed to all 4 corners. It was Campion who took the
important points that mattered though and closed it out 3-0
to win the tie for Queens.
Mens O45 Semi Final 1
Ashbourne 0-5 Nottingham
Mike Herridge lt Matt Oxley 10-8 9-1 9-2 34m
Adrian Alcock lt Gawain Briars 9-5 9-1 9-1 21m

Gawain Briars got Nottingham off to a good start in the
first Mens O45 Semi Final this morning against Ashbourne’s
Adrian Alcock with a convincing 3-0 victory, Matt Oxley then
claimed the tie for Nottingham with a win over Mike Herridge.
The 3rd strings had the toughest battle, despite the tie
already being won by Nottingham both players battled for 45
minutes but it was Greg Watkins who took the match 3-0.
Racketball Semi Final 2
Edgbaston Priory 2-3 Bishops Stortford
Chris Tasker Grindley lt Daryl Selby 11-4 8-11 11-9 11-13
6-11 78m
Jake Grayston lt Nick Mulvey 9-11 11-9 11-8 32m
Ashlee Harris lt Elliot Selby 11-3 11-7 11-7 29m
Mike Edwards bt Matt Cutchey 5-11 12-10 11-7 11-13 12-10 65m
Anil Ram bt Mark Thornley 6-11 11-6 10-12 10-12 41m
Bishops Stortford and Edgbaston Priory met in a rematch of
last years final, last year Priory took the trophy with a
3-2 victory. This year that defeat was avenged by Stortford
as Daryl Selby clinched the win with a 3-2 win in 78 minutes
over Chris Tasker Grindley.
Mark Thornley got Stortford off to a good start against Anil
Ram in a match that could’ve gone either way, the win reads
3-1 but the 3rd and 4th games were both 12-10 to Thornley.
Elliot Selby then took another for Stortford only for Mike
Edwards to get one back for Priory in a 65 minute match that
he took 3-2. With the tie at 2-1 in Stortfords favour the
pressure turned to the number 1’s.
Chris Tasker Grindley got the better of Selby in the early
stages and took a 2-1 lead. In the 4th game they literally
took turns to take a point each until the scores were 11-11,
Selby managed to get a stroke to get game ball duly took the
game 13-11. Selby returned in the 5th and soon took control,
racing ahead from 5-4 to take the game 11-6 and the tie for
Stortford.
Mens O35 Semi Final 1
Wellington 1-4 Bexley
Gary Clarke lt Ben Ford 4-11 5-11 4-11 19m
Graham Hooper lt Chris Tomlinson 5-11 5-11 6-11 22m

Vincent Paliczka lt Ron Ganz 7-11 3-11 4-11 26m
Russell Sparshott bt Rob Lewis 11-8 2-11 11-7 11-9 30m
Bexley claimed their final spot in the Mens Over 35 with a
comprehensive win over Wellington with 3-0 wins for Ben
Ford, Chris Tomlinson, Matt Green and Ron Ganz. Russell
Sparshott did manage to take his match against Rob Lewis but
Bexley were too strong at the top of the team to be under
any pressure.
Mens O35 Semi Final 2
Moreton Hall 5-0 Peterborough
Jamie Goodrich bt Jay Hand 11-3 11-3 11-5 17m
Ian Cox bt Mat Fiveash 11-5 11-9 12-10 20m

Peter Alexander bt Tom Moorhouse 11-8 11-9 7-11 11-6 31m
Moreton Hall bt Peterborough
Moreton Hall also cruised into the final after they won all
their matches against Peterborough. Led by Goodrich and Cox
they go into the final against Bexley in great form. Neither
Bexley nor Moreton Hall have ever won the O35 title so we
expect that to be a good battle.
Mens Semi Final 1
Pontefract 3-2 Nottingham
Adam Turner lt Eddie Charlton 11-5 13-11 11-3 33m
Sam Wileman bt Chris Fuller 2-11 11-8 7-11 11-0 5-0Rtd 48m

Taminder Gata Aura bt Rich Underhill 11-9 11-6 11-6 21m
Ben Hodgetts lt Tim Dixon 11-8 11-9 11-2 19m
Pontefract bt Nottingham 3-2
Nottingham, defending champions were back again this year
with a view to retaining their title. They were up against a
young Pontefract side spearheaded by Adam Turner and Sam
Wileman.
The tie was delicately poised at 2-2 as Nottinghams had win
for Charlton and Dixon while Hodgetts and Gata Aura claimed
wins for Ponte. So Fuller against Wileman for a place in the
finals. Fuller took the first only for Wileman to take the
second, advantage back to Nottingham as Fuller took the 3rd
11-7. In the fourth, unfortunately Fuller injured his back.
He played on when he probably shouldn’t and Wileman took
full advantage by taking the game 11-0, the 5th game
continued in the same fashion until Fuller had to retire
injured, Wileman taking the game and a place in tomorrows
final.
Women's Semi Final 1
Kenilworth 3-2 Colets

Natalie Townsend lt Kim Ricks 8-11 11-6 11-7 11-7 41m
Walkover to Kenilworth
Kenilworth already had an advantage in this tie as they had
a walkover at 5th string before the match started, however
that didn’t stop them battling to take a final spot. Kim
Ricks took a win for Colets over Natalie Townsend and Alison
Thomson battled for 44 minutes to take a win over Jenny
Wright.
Kenilworth however have an inform British U23 Champion who
is making great strides on the WSA Tour at present in Sarah
Jane Perry and former England junior Chloe Pearson in their
ranks who both took their games over Lloyd Walter and
Bennett 3-0 . They now face Pontefract in tomorrow’s final.
Women's Semi Final 2
Pontefract bt Cottons & Monument
Walkover to Pontefract.
Mens Semi Final 2
Colets 4-1 Luton & Dunstable
1. Jon Kemp bt Daryl Selby 11-4 11-8 10-12 11-6 42m
2. Scott Handley lt Adrian Waller 2-11 9-11 20m
3. Richie Fallows bt Adam Auckland 11-9 4-11 13-11 11-8 65m
4. Alex Gough bt Adam Giles 11-6 11-5 11-7 32m
5. Clive Ewins bt Steve Davies 11-7 11-3 11-6 38m
The second semi final of the day saw last years runners up
Colets take on Luton & Dunstable. Both sides put out
incredibly strong teams and it was hard to call which way it
would go. With the 5th and 4th strings going on first it was
Colets who got off to a flying start, the experience of
Clive Ewins and Alex Gough is invaluable at this stage and
they quickly wrapped up 3-0 wins each.
Luton & Dunstables top 3 look dangerous so the pressure was
on England junior Richie Fallows as he took on Adam
Auckland. The first was very close, which Fallows edged
11-9, Auckland took the second 11-4 and the third went into
a tie break. Auckland with game ball only for fallows to
save it and go on to take the game 13-11.
The next game had both players battling point for point
until at 8-7 to Auckland the game was temporarily stopped
for a blood injury to Auckland’s knee. The players returned
after 15 minutes but Auckland didn’t seem to be able to get
back into battle mode and Fallows took full advantage taking
the next 4 points to take the match 3-1 and the victory to
Colets.
Jon Kemp took another one for Colets as he won 3-1 over
Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller took a consolation win for
Luton over Scott Handley. Colets will now face Pontefract in
tomorrows final.
Mens O45 Semi Final 2
Harpenden 2-1 Wellington
Eamonn Price lt Gary Clarke 0-9 9-7 3-9 6-9 60m
Andrew Eilfield bt Graham Hooper 9-0 9-3 9-0 26m
Marvin Rust bt Vincent Paliczka 9-1 6-9 9-1 9-4 150m*
(*blood injury 60 minutes)
Harpenden are one step closer to retaining their Mens Over
45 title for the 3rd year running after a difficult match
against Wellington. The tie started with the 3rd strings on
first, Rust for Harpenden was playing very well and 8-1 up
only for a second blood injury of the day to strike.
With courts busy and players waiting the 1st strings went
straight onto court while the injury was seen to. 60 minutes
later and Gary Clarke and Eamonn Price had been through a
tough 3-1 which Clarke took, Rust and Hooper then returned
which Rust took 3-1 to even the tie at 1-1.
All down to the second strings and Eilfield didn’t
disappoint for the current holders, wasting no time in
taking control and storming to a 3-0 win in 26 minutes to
win the tie for Harpenden.
Mens Plate Final
Bexley 2-3 Fort Stamford
Ben Ford bt Ben Rodgers 11-7 11-7 11-9 27m
Chris Tomlinson bt Edward Shannon 11-6 11-5 4-11 8-11 11-7
41m
Matt Green lt Jon Gliddon 12-14 8-11 2-11 32m
Jack Breen lt Duncan Hefford 3-11 9-11 5-11 22m
Ron Ganz lt Tony Tremain 4-11 7-11 9-11 33m
The Mens Plate Final was a great match up between two very
even sides, Bexley strong at the top of the order but Fort
Stamford strong in depth which resulted in the tie being
poised at 2-2 with glory resting on the shoulders of the 3rd
strings Jon Gliddon and Matt Green.
As you would expect it was close for the first couple of
games which Gliddon took 14-12 and 11-8, he then stepped it
up in the 3rd and finished strong taking the game 11-3 and
the plate trophy for Fort Stamford.
Racketball Plate Final
Brampton Manor 2-3 Ardencote
Phil Scully lt Guy Pearson 8-11 5-11 11-13 35m
Chris Needham bt Matt Pugh 12-10 14-12 11-8 31m
Jason Fearn bt Jon Summers 15-17 11-4 11-7 2-11 12-10 56m
Mark Bramley lt Paul Chadwick 9-11 9-11 10-12 33m
Leigh Brusby lt Rich Lucas 11-6 7-11 11-7 4-11 5-11 34m
Guy Pearson led Ardencote to the Racketball Plate Trophy as
they took on Brampton Manor. Ardencote started well and took
an invaluable 2-0 lead with wins for their 4th and 5th
strings Paul Chadwick and Rich Lucas.
Pearson then went onto court and confirmed victory with a
3-0 win over Phil Scully to take the tie. Chris Needham and
Jason Fearn both won their matches for Brampton but the
damage was already done.
