LJ Triumphs In Toulouse
Top
seed Laurens Jan Anjema triumphed in the Movida International when
he beat 'giant-killer' Simon Rosner in the final at Movida Castanet
in Toulouse, France.
The world No18 from the Netherlands, playing his first Tour event
since recovering from an ankle injury in March, reached the final
without dropping game. And his German opponent Rosner, the sixth
seed, had shown the best form of his life after upsetting two
higher-ranked players to book his unexpected appearance in the
final.
The 21-year-old from Paderborn took a game from the favourite - but
it was the experienced Anjema, the four-time Dutch national champion
from The Hague celebrating his 20th PSA Tour final, who had the
edge.
In his longest match of the tournament, Anjema secured an 11-7,
9-11, 11-4, 11-6 victory in 62 minutes to mark the eighth Tour title
of his career, but his first for more than a year.

gatecrash Toulouse semis
The quarter-finals of the Movida International in Toulouse saw two
further seeds fall in the quarter-finals, as temperatures rose above
the 30-degree mark.
Top
seed LJ Anjema beat fellow Dutchman Piedro Schweertman easily
enough to advance to the semi-finals, where he faces an unexpected
French opponent after unseeded Mathieu Castagnet scored a
second successive win over experienced compatriots, this time
beating Stéphane Galifi in straight games.
Italy's second seed Davide Bianchetti crashed out in five games to
German number one Simon Rosner, who meets third seed Chris
Ryder for a place in the final.

15-Jun-09,
First Round Qualifying :
HOT IN TOULOUSE...
Well, we have no less than 10 of my compatriots in the competition,
with Yann Perrin getting in extremis in the main after Yasir
Butt withdrew from the tournament.
That allowed young Geoffrey Demont, thank god feeling better
than last week in Stockholm, to play in the first round of the
qualifications. He lost still, but in five, and against another
French, Romain Tenant, some 150 places above him in the
rankings.
To be noticed in the qualifications, the presence of Kuwait's
Abdullah Almezayen, coached by Rahmat Khan. Beware, he is
extremely fit, and may cause a few upsets there...
I know for a fact it's freeking hot in Toulouse, the courts are very
warm, and the matches last and last... Survival of the fittest,
which used to be our motto a few years back, remember matches in 9
traditional scoring with a high tin? Yep, I'm old enough to
remember...
Anyway, the organisers are trying their best to keep us informed,
and we'll let you know as soon as we get more info from "La Ville Rose",
the Pink City, the nickname for Toulouse, as its building are made
with a beautiful stone that has lovely rose shades.
