Eddie & Rachel in eleventh heaven ...
The 11th leg of the Malaysian Tour saw men's top seed Eddie
Charlton and third-seeded home player Rachel Arnold take
the titles at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil.
Charlton beat Malaysia's Valentino Bong, appearing in his first PSA
final, in straight games to collect his 5th PSA title, while Arnold
won her first PSA title, coming from 1-2 down to end the run of
teenage Egyptian qualifier Menna Hamed.
"It was such tense
game ... but I’m really happy with the way I finished off the
match," Rachel, who was appearing in her 6th PSA final, told The
Star.
"I was really frustrated with myself for not winning any titles
despite making the finals a few times. “I’m really happy with the
way I came back today. I had to mix the pace after the third set and
it worked in my favour.
"It’s a good way to end the year. Hopefully, this will be a stepping
stone for me ... I’m hoping to win more and to have more
opportunities competing overseas."
