Olli takes the title in Colwyn Bay
The first rally of the iSquash Closed Satellite final was 145
strokes!!
It was a tight first game, players going point for point until Danny
Hockburn got a 10-8 lead, but it wasn't to be as Ollie Holland
powered through the 30minute game 15-13.
There were lots of long rallies and lots of running around from both
players. Ollie seemed to have the upper hand throughout the last two
game as much as Danny kept digging in it wasn't too be as Ollie's
physicality had too much for him today.

Semis in Colwyn Bay
Danny Hockborn bt David Haley 3/1
Both players were really evenly matched all the way through. Danny
had perhaps, a little more creativity at crucial points.
Hockborn employed some slowing down tactics between rallies,
flicking ball to ball of court before picking it up to serve and the
break in rhythm seemed to affect Haley.
But just when we thought Hockborn was going to take the 4th, Haley
came back at the English man with some steady squash and took the
game into a tie break. Long rallies ensued, but Hockborn just had
the edge.
Ollie Holland bt Tom Ford 3/0
An epic encounter. Some serious rallying between the 2 players, with
some difficult decisions by the ref, saw Ford take a 9-2 lead. But
Holland never gave up and although never ahead manged to claw his
way back to a tie break.
Incredible retrieving from both players made for some amazing squash
and it was Holland who sneaked the first game 16-14. Ford clearly
not happy at having relinquished such a large lead seemed to be a
bit despondent in the 2nd and Holland took it in a matter of minutes
11-3.
Ford had obviously cleared his head in the 3rd as once again it was
nip and tuck. Both players flying around the court, picking
everything up, but it was Holland who played the steadier game to
take the match in 3.
Quarters in Colwyn Bay
David Haley beat Taminder Gata-Aura 3/1
David looked strong as ever, keeping Taminder under pressure from
the off! Steady squash paid off for the welshman although it looked
more competitive after Taminder took advantage of David's errors in
the second. Taminder couldn't keep this up, unfortunately for him,
and starting going for winners too soon.
Daniel Hockborn beat Matt Sidaway 3/0
Brutal 25min first game seeing Daniel squeeze it out and take the
legs away from Matt. This helped Daniel put Matt under a lot more
pressure in the second and third forcing Matt into errors and
getting a comfortable way through to the semi finals where he will
face David Haley.
Tom Ford beat Tristan Eysele 3/0
Tom's shot selection and execution was too good for Tristan's
agility and speed in the first two games. The third, however, was
tense all the way finishing on a lengthy tie-break which resulted in
the younger Tom Ford progressing through to tomorrow's semi final.
Ollie Holland beat Phil Whitlock 3/1
This was the crowd's favourite (obviously!) and they saw Ollie's
speed being too much for the club player to handle in the first
game. Once Phil got into the match he raced to a 10-1 lead in the
second!! Although it wasn't plain sailing as Ollie played great
squash to come back to 10-10 but Phil put his foot down and played
even better to take the next two rallies and the game 12-10!
The third was a lot tighter with both players really trying to
outplay each other. Phil's experience wasn't enough against the
youngster unfortunately and after many hard rallies Ollie came out
on top to take a 2-1 lead. He carried this through to the fourth and
sadly for the members, it wasn't meant to be for Phil tonight
meaning Ollie progresses through to play Tom Ford in tomorrow's semi
finals.
