Italian National Team Championships 2010
04-06 June, Riccione
Crazy Team Turin take first title
Tim Simpson & Davide Babini report

The Italian Team Championships were held in Riccione 4/6 June 2010, at Figs National Squash Centre.

The Italian Team Championship is the most important calendar event for Italian squash, with the presence of some of the top players in the world such as Jonathon Power, Adrian Grant, Sarah Fitz-Gerald, Madeline Perry, Jonathan Kemp, Steve Finitsis, Dominique Lloyd-Walter, Aisling Blake, Lauren Siddall, Line Hansen, Chris Small, Robert Downer, David Heath and the best of the Italian squash players.

Much appreciated was the presence of Jonathon Power, who still demonstrates his unique art with the squash rackets, beating Adrian Grant (N°13 PSA) and Steve Finitsis.

In the semifinals, Crazy Team Turin won comfortable against Halley Castellazzo Parma 172/90 after a spectacular match between Adrian Grant and Jonathon Power, and Beriv Reggio Emilia beat Riccione Squash 158/122.

The first match of the final saw Turin's Jose Facchini win against Michalangelo Bertocchi 45/20, but in the second match an aggressive Madeleine Perry beat Sarah Fitz-Gerald 45/40 to make in one-all.

In the third match Adrian Grant took the decisive advantage for Turin beating Jonathon Kemp 45/36, and in the last match Marcus Berrett claimed the title for Crazy Team against Mirko Pareccini 45/11.

Crazy Team Turin thus took their first Italian title, after finishing 2nd in 2009 and 3rd in 2008, beating Beriv Reggio Emilia 175/112 in the final.
