He had to come from two games down, but home favourite and top seed Abdullah Al Mezayen captured his eighth PSA title at home in Kuwait with a comeback win over Egyptian teenager Mazen Hesham in the Ikea International final.

The win marks the 13th PSA win for the world #46, and a fifth this year, all but one of them at home in Kuwait!

Abdullah was commendably brief in his victory tweet: "10000   3/2".

There's no stopping Abdullah Al Mezayen at home. The Kuwaiti number one advanced to yet another home final with a 3-1 win over qualifier Fares Dessouki, and now faces another Egyptian in the final after Mazen Hesham, like Dessouki one of Egypt's world junior title winning team, beat compatriot Omar Abdel Meguid, the second seed.

Abdullah faces Egyptian challenge in Kuwait

Top seed and home favourite Abdullah Al Mezayen was joined in the semi-finals of the PSA $10k Ikea International by three Egyptians after two rounds of play today in Kuwait.

After getting past compatriot Bader Al Hussaini and Scotland's Greg Lobban, the top seed, aiming to win an eighth PSA title at home and a fourth this year, now meets qualifier Fares Dessouki, who survived a marathon 90-minute five-game quarter-final to beat fourth seed Zahed Mohamed.

Whoever wins will face an Egyptian in the final - third seed Mazen Hesham or Omar Abdel Meguid, the second seed.

FROGS' TALK

Un mot depuis le Koweït.

Je viens de perdre contre un jeune égyptien. 9 fautes directes dans le premier, évidemment ça aide pas.. J'ai réussi à être un peu plus patient dans les deux suivants mais sans vraiment réussir à mettre mon jeu en place, donc très déçu de ce match. C'est frustrant, tout se passe bien à l'entraînement, mais je n'arrive pas à concrétiser en match, pour l'instant..

En ce qui concerne Flo, il a fait un bon match solide hier pour rentrer dans le tableau.
Ce matin, il a manqué un peu de réalisme, c'est dommage, ce premier tour était à sa portée, avec des arbitres qui n'ont pas aidé!



 

Tout d'abord Geoff a joué contre l'Egyptien qui s'est qualifié en sortant Ravi Dixit hier 3-0, pas de chance dans le tirage au sort, il aurait pu espérer mieux..

Dans le premier, il fait 9 fautes directes n'étant pas du tout dedans.. Le deuxième et troisième furent plus serrés mais l'Egyptien a bien fait travaillé Geoffre avec notamment de très bons drops de l'arrière du court, Geoffre n'a pu que défendre.. puis s'est mis à jouer son jeu et à être plus agressif.. ne passe pas loin de prendre le troisième avec plusieurs balles de jeu. Il s'incline 11-1 11-8 14-12.

Quant à moi, je pense ne pas avoir joué mon meilleur squash aujourd'hui, beaucoup moins incisif que lui, même si physiquement j'étais au dessus, je subissais constemment ces bonnes vollées drop..

Trop de croisées, 5 points très litigieux avec des no lets qui pour moi sont vraiment très très généreux pour lui.. mais bon je ne vais pas revenir sur l'arbitrage de toute façon on sait comment ça se passe...

Je passe à coté du deuxième, dans le troisième j'attaque pas mal, je mène dans le jeu 7-4 avant de perdre 11-8.

Voila je suis déçu de mon match, énervé et frustré de tout le temps devoir rester concentré mentalement contre les arbitres.. C'est dur mais c'est le jeu. J'aurais dû être plus incisif et tranchant. Je prends quand même 25 points, c'était l'objectif à atteindre.
