Hong Kong Squash is delighted to announce the HK$280,000 cash sponsorship by Crocodile Garments Ltd. for two major events of the calendar year, namely the “Crocodile Hong Kong Closed Championships 2009” and the “Crocodile Squash Challenge Cup 2009” which will be commenced next week and in July respectively.

Hong Kong Closed Squash Championships is the most prestigious local competition organized by Hong Kong Squash over 3 decades, annually attracting our top national players, including 13-time HK champion Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin and defending champion Dick Lau Siu-wai. This year, the tournament is again title-sponsored by CROCODILE, held between 2 to 13 June 2009 at the Hong Kong Squash Centre, including masters, men's and women's main competition.

13-time women’s champion Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin and defending men’s champion Dick Lau Siu-wai will be the top seeds in the championships. The event is an ideal competition for our HK Team members, Max Lee Ho-yin, Anson Kwong Yu-shun, Leo Au Chun-ming, Annie Au Wing-chi, Christina Mak Pui-hin, Joey Chan Ho-ling and Elise Ng Jia-yunn as a warm-up tournament for competing in the Pre-East Asian Games Squash Championships 2009 which will be held between 22 to 27 June in Hong Kong.

The “Crocodile Squash Challenge Cup”, sanctioned by WISPA and the PSA, is set to welcome and bring world-class men and women players from all corners of the world to Hong Kong for the 16-draw competition with the total prize money of HKD140,000, to be held between 8 to 12 July.

It is an ideal world professional event for our top local players to gain valuable world ranking points and well prepare for the upcoming international tournaments.

"Special thanks go to our title sponsor Crocodile Garments Limited who has joined us for the fourth time in what we hope will be a long lasting and successful partnership in our ongoing mission to develop and promote the wonderful game of squash.

"Thanks also go to the Leisure & Cultural Services Department for their ongoing support and together with other supporting sponsors, Cathay Pacific Airways and Perrier, without whose contribution, this tournament would not be such an all round success."

"It is the honour and gratitude that Crocodile Garments Limited is the fifth year to be invited as title-sponsor of this highly popular tournament in HK.

"I am sure that those looking forward to a week of exhilarating action will be well rewarded."
