03-Dec:
Hinds and Shuja set up Grupa final
Joel Hinds bt Rasmus Nielsen 3-1
(8-11;11-4;11-7;11-4) 58 min
Joel: For the first game ball was
flying around, so it was quite hard to control and I think he was
better then me at that. From the second I thought the ball was a bit
colder and I was able to move him around a lot more which made him
tired.
Kashif Shuja bt
Chris Truswell 3-1
(11-5;7-11;11-6;11-6) 40 min
Kashif: Chris got a lot balls back
and I knew he is a capable player, so I knew that I have to be on my
toes. I lost a bit of focus in the second , but I was glad to put it
together. Tomorrow against Joel it will be a totally different ball
game. |

03-Dec:
Top seeds through to Warsaw semsi
No sweat for the top four seeds as Joel Hinds, Kashif Shuja,
Rasmus Nielsen and Chris Truswell all reach the semi-finals in
Warsaw.Joel Hinds
bt Sebastian Weenink
(11-8; 11-8; 7-11; 11-5) 49 min
Joel: It was quite a though match. First two games were pretty
tight. In the 3rd I was 6-4 up and then he hit 6 nicks... so I
didn't do much wrong. I've got a good start in the 4th and manage to
hang on
Rasmus Nielsen bt Amr Swelim
(11-9; 11-9; 3-0 rtd) 39 min
Rasmus: Happy to get a 3-0 win. It was a very tight match. I don't
know what happened to Swelim that he had to retire (Amr said it's
hamstring injury). All I am happy about is that I got through
Chris Truswell bt Matias Tuomi
(4-11; 11-5; 11-5; 11-8) 41 min
Chris: Fairly though match. He is training in Birmingham at the same
club as I am. We've only trained once, but I've seen him playing so
I knew what to expect . I was a little bit nervous in the first and
he got a good start, but I knew that I had to stay on court and be
aggressive which I did in the 2nd and 3rd. I felt comfortable then.
In the 4th I was happy to close it out, it was tight, but I was able
to squeeze few mistakes at the end.
Kashif Shuja bt Steve London
(11-1; 11-7; 11- 4) 25 min
Kashif: I knew that he had a hard match yesterday so I knew that he
struggled. I made sure that I kept the pace from the start to the
end. I am sure that he will learn how to recover from the matches
better. Pleased to get through.

02-Dec:
Round One in Warsaw
No sweat for the top four seeds as Joel Hinds, Kashif Shuja, Rasmus
Nielsen and Chris Truswell all reach the semi-finals in Warsaw.
Amr Swelin bt Jamie Haycocks 3-2
in 75mins
"Good game, started out slow at first I was playing well. I made a
few mistakes in the 3rd and should have won the 4th but he played
very well. It was good that I got the 5th as it was very tough, I
had to come back from 6-3 down. I'm happy with the win."
Sebastian Weenink bt Reiko Peter 3-2 in 83mins
"In the beginning I didn’t play a basic game, I was all over
the place keeping up with his pace. I changed in the 3rd, sorted it
out which gave me more opportunities. In the 4th I was 8-6 down, I
slowed it down not playing his game and in the 5th he made errors
giving me an early lead. I had learned from a previous match. Happy
to win from 2-0 down it was hard and I'm happy with the result."
Rasmus Nielsen bt Bart Ravelli 3-1 in 67mins
"Happy to get through. Obviously not an easy draw, he was ranked 5th
in the tournament. It would have been better if I finished it in the
3rd but the 4th was easy so it was OK. Playing Swelin tomorrow, he
had a tough match today. I haven't played with him recently, he's
playing well. Hopefully I will get through, see how it goes."
Joel Hinds bt Jakob Dirnberger 3-0 in 26 mins
'Pleased to win 3-0 as there is a potentially tough day tomorrow.
This is my last tournament of the year so hoping to finish this half
of the season well.'
Matias Tuomi bt Kara Khan 3-2 in 74mins
"I was a bit nervous as I haven't played great lately. I wanted to
do well here. It was not the prettiest match but I am happy that I
won. Kama tried whatever he could to win, changing up his game but
he had a tough match yesterday so maybe he was a bit tired which was
OK for me. He played well."
Steve London bt Jonas Daehler 3-2 in 95 mins
"It was a long gruel! We both had a scrappy start. I lost the 1st
but after advice got into it, straightened up and pulled it back to
1 all. Then he came back with good squash. The 5th could have gone
either way. I'm really pleased to beat a Swiss as I lost the last
time!"
Kashif Shuja bt Dan West 3-1 in 59 mins
"It's always tricky to play someone you've never seen before; it
made for a good match. He's a handy player; good movement tough
shots, I had to work really hard to get through. There are no easy
matches in PSA these days, the game as a whole is improving. I was
expecting a decent match and I got one."

Qualifying complete in Warsaw
After two rounds of play in the Grupa O2 Cup in Warsaw, four
qualifiers went through to the main draw:
Jakob Dirnberger (AUT) bt
Kostiantyn Rybalchenko (UKR) 11-4, 11-9, 11-3 (25m)
"I am pretty happy to have won this game. It's good to win two games
in a row on a PSA Tour.
In particular this game as I lost to him in a close match the last
time we played in the European Teams. I am looking forward to
playing in the main draw tomorrow".
Kamatullah Khan (PAK) bt bt Roman Suec (CZE)
10-12, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-9 (80m)
"In the first games he was very strong, I couldn't get his power
shots. Then, after tips from Woytek Kazmierowski (Thanks!)
I began to concentrate, hit better lines and play better at the
front. I wanted to qualify so badly!" from a very happy Kama!
Daniel West (ENG)bt Ruslan Sorochinskiy (UKR)
11-9, 13-11, 11-7 (41mins)
“I’m very happy to have got through to the first round. It
was a really good match, we have played in the past.
I kept my head against his interesting movement, he kept me
thinking. It’s nice to be back on court with decent players.”
Jonas Daehler (SUI) bt Jonathan Geekie (SCO)
11-6, 11-3, 11-3 (27mins)
"I’m happy to qualify for the main draw. I played good squash today
and am confident for tomorrow.
Jon wasn't playing his best. I stayed focused and just played my
game."
