The 7th Annual World of Squash Golf Day moved to the
impressive Moor Park Golf Club in NW London.
Eventis Sports brought together golfers from all walks of
squash, including players, sponsors, administrators, media
and fans of the sport.
The
stunning championship High Course looked stunning in the
late summer sun and proved a fitting challenge for all
levels of golfers.
As always preparation was varied ranging from hitting plenty
of balls on the range, fine tuning the putting stroke to a
pint of beer and a bacon roll before hitting the first tee.
After
dinner was served the prizes were awarded with the winning
team coming from court company Roehampton (91 points)
who fielded Paul Lindsay, Michael Hill, James Deaman & Neil
Symons.
Second spot went to hosts Eventis with 90 points,
while, perennial bridesmaids PCL did win something
this year, unfortunately it was the wooden spoon!
The
lightening fast greens, made putting a challenge, so it was
no surprise that the winner got round with just 27 putts and
in doing so Seb Carmichael-Browns played to level par
and racked up an impressive 41 points. He can now add the
squash title to his Audi Cup & Trilby Tour wins. PA - look
out for him riding into the golf club on his horse, el
bandito!
Roehampton’s Paul Lindsay led after nine with a big
22 points, but had to settle for second ending on a total of
37.
Nearest the Pin was won, possibly with the first shot of the
day at it, by Courtwall’s Wolfgang Denk, Select
Gaming’s Jonny Powell was Closest to the Pin in Two
and accountant David Cook appropriately kept his
drive straightest!! Much to his and everyone else’s surprise
Eventis’ Tim Garner won Longest Drive.
Sixteen year-old Sports Aid
funded golfer Charlotte West also impressed everyone
with her ball striking and general demeanour.
The post dinner auction raised over £1,200 which will
be ring-fenced by Sports Aid for young squash players
in need of funding.
Anyone interested in joining next year’s event should
