Fallows and Gilis take Euro titles in Finland
Poku Salo reports

Out of the six medalists in European U19 Championships four come from England, solid evidence of the strong squash-culture and long-term systematic work done over the decades.

Richie Fallows, number 1 seed, played a strong tournament. He lost a couple of games on his way to the podium, but as he put it after the semifinal:

“These are my last Championships as a junior and I want to play as well as possible, even though I needed to play also against my team-mates.”

Angus Gilliams really didn’t have a chance. Fallows lost the second game, but after that Fallows dominated the game as he wished.

The Belgian Nele Gilis, also number 1 seed, showed again her talent and professionalism. Marie Stephan from France made only 13 points during the whole match.

Down to the finals in Finland

The annual European U19 Championships head for Finland this year, with England favourites to retain the boys' and team titles, while the girls' final is expected to be a Belgium/France affair.

The Boys final will indeed be an all-English affair, and it took two tremendous comebacks from 0-2 dodn from Nele Gilis and Marie Stephan to deny the English girls ans the top seeds reached both finals.
