El Salvador Open 2011
18-23 Sep, San Salvador, 7k
25-Sept-2011 - Final

[1] Chris Gordon (Usa) bt [3] Joan Lezaud     11/5, 11/6, 11/9

Christopher Gordon of the USA fully justified his seeding in the Tour De Las Americas El Salvador Open when he won the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 squash title at the Maya Country Club in the country's capital San Salvador.

The New York-born 25-year-old prevailed in the semi-finals after England's No4 seed Tom Pashley was forced to retire injured midway through the second game.

And his surprise opponent in the final was Joan Lezaud, the third seed from France who reached his second Tour final in a week against expectation after beating Argentina's Hernan D'Arcangelo in straight games.

But Lezaud's winning run in South America came to end when Gordon despatched the 25-year-old from Aix-en-Provence 11-5, 11-6, 11-9.

The success marks Gordon's second PSA Tour title, following his breakthrough title triumph at the Japan Pro Yokohama in May 2009.

"it feels really good to win a tournament, it's moments like these that make you realise just how many people have supported you and how much work it has taken to get to this point. I'm so lucky for all the help I have had over the years....

I'm really enjoying my squash right now and feel like I'm improving and I hope that I can build on the momentum I've gained here to hopefully have a really positive season!"

Peace
