02-07
Jun, Sporting Club, Alexandria, Egypt
|
Finals:
Heba El Torky bt Kanzy El Dafrawy 11/4, 11/9,
9/11, 11/4
Amr Khaled Khalifa bt Andrew Wagih 11/7, 12/10, 11/5
Finals:
More titles for Torky and Khalifa
Heba
El Torky made it four out of four in WISPA finals as she beat her
younger compatriot Kanzey El Dafrawy in the final to add the Circuit
#2 title to the Circuit #1 crown she claimed last month in Cairo.
In the men's final, also all-Egyptian, world junior champion Amr
Khaled Khalifi beat Andrew Wagih to claim his eighth PSA title in
just nine final appearances.
Semis:
Straightforward semis set up all-Egyptian finals
After the dramatic matches of the
quarter-finals, things calmed down a little for the semis as the
Sporting Club in Alexandria, with four three-nil victories setting
up all-Egyptian finals.
Andrew Wagih, the only men's seed remaining, despatched
giant-killer Mazen Gamal and meets world junior champion Amr Khaled
Khalifa, who ended the run of England's Ollie Pett.
Women's top seed Heba El Torky beat Farah Abdel Meguid, but an
all-El Torky final was denied as second seed Kanzy El afrawy beat
Heba's younger sister Nouran.

"I'm sooo happy that I've won this
title in my new club. Thanks to my parents, Team mates, Coaches that
without them I wouldn't do it...Also the support of my old club that
I will always say thanks to...
"Special thanks to Mr. Mohamed El Kamash and the team for helping
organize squash tournaments in Egypt when we had problems! Now since
everything in Egypt is back to normal or even better...we wish that
there will be more bigger tournaments :)"

Quarters:
Men's Seeds suffer in Alexandria,
top four women through ...
It's been a bad tournament so far for the men's seeds, with only one
left at the semi-final stage. With the second and third seeds
falling in the opening round, the quarter-finals saw the demise of
top seed Karim Abdel Gawad who lost out 12/10 in the fifth to
Mazen Gamal after a 106-minute marathon.
Gamal
now meets Andrew Wagih, the only remaining seed, who also won
12/10 in the fifth to reach the semi-finals.
The other semi-final features world junior champion Amr Khalid
Khalifa and Olivier Pett, the Englishman having
despatches brothers Ali and Wael Farag in the first two rounds.
The women's semi-finals are all-Egyptian, with the top four seeds
all featuring. Heba El Torky took just over an hour to
justify her top billing as she beat Salma Hany in five to book a
semi-final against Farah Abdel Meguid.
The other semi-final is between second and third seeds Kanzy El
Dafrawy and Nouran El Torky, who will both be looking to
impress in the run-up to July's World Juniors in Boston, where both
should be amongst the top seeds.

Thanks to Mohamed El Kamash for the
Quarters results
