World Junior Champion Diego
Elias continued his impressive form in the senior ranks as the
Peruvian teenager beat top seed Alan Clyne in straight games to take
the title at Costa Rica Tennis Club.

Top seeds through to final
The first semi-final paired
Scotland's Alan Clyne with Mexican Alfredo Avila.
Alan's consistency dominated Alfredo's shotmaking, who lost the
first game 1/11. His game improved gradually in the second but again
lost 4/11. Third and final game was more balanced with long rallies,
Alan finally prevailing 13/11.
Peruvian Diego Elias met Canadian Shawn Delierre in the second
semifinal.
First game saw long rallies and aggressive play, with Elias
prevailing 11/5. Speed and accuracy allowed him to dominate the
second game 11/1, while the third saw Shawn attempting a comeback,
yet fell short and lost 9/11.

Salazar joins seven seeds in quarters

Eight exciting matches at the
Costa Rica Tennis Club on the first day of championship play.
Eric Galvez prevailed over fellow Mexican Erik Tepos in an
intense three-setter, while Costa Rican wild card Andres Echeverria
pleased the local fans by taking one set from Peter Creed.
Top seeds Alan Clyne and Diego Elias established their
favourite status by winning in three sets against Nicolas Caballero
and Cameron Stafford, respectively, while No. 3 seed Alfredo
Avila beat Joe Chapman in an exhibition of speed an
technique from both players which the gallery thoroughly enjoyed.
Sunil Seth and Mohamed Reda delighted the crowd with
dazzling technique and fitness, with Mohamed prevailing in three
sets, while Shawn Delierre's experience seemed to be the main
factor in his victory over Chris Hanson.
Unseeded Arturo Salazar recorded the sole upset of the day by
beating No. 5 seed Muhd Asyraf Azan in four games.
