Canadian Nationals 2012, 02-06 May, Niagara-on-the-Lake

 
Razik and Ranieri retain titles


Miranda Ranieri and Shahier Razik were repeat winners at the 100th Canadian Nationals at Naigara on the Lake, where they enjoyed contrasting victories in the finals.

Ranieri turned in "a great performance with few errors" to beat top seed Sam Cornett in straight games, while Razik, in a repeat of last year's final, came from two games down to finally beat second seed Shawn Delierre in a two-hour-plus marathon.

It will be the top seeds who contest the finals of the 100th Canadian Nationals after Shahier Razik and Shawn Delierre both won their semi-finals in straight games to set up a repeat of last year's men's final and defending women's champion Miranda Ranieri came through to meet top seed Sam Cornett who survived a five-game tussle.

Canada celebrates 100th Nationals

White Oaks Conference Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, will host the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Squash Championships from May 2 – 6th, 2012.

The event, which features 300 players from all over Canada and various parts of the United States competing for a chance to win the Canadian National Championship title in the Men’s & Women’s Open Events, the A, B and C Divisions and the age category Men’s & Women’s Masters Events from 30+ to 70+ events age categories.

03-May, Quarters:
Down to the Semis in Niagara ...

The 100th Canadian National Championships is down to the semi-final stage at the White Oaks resort in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with the top two seeds in men's and women's events safely through.

The big upset so far was Dane Sharp's marathon quarter-final win over third seed Andrew Schnell to set up a semi-final with second seed Shawn Delierre.
