Burgan Bank Challenger 2013
19-23 Mar, Kuwait, $10k
Abdullah marches on in Kuwait

Kuwaiti squash star Abdullah Al Mezayen extended his remarkable record when he beat Pakistan's Nasir Iqbal in the final of the Burgan Bank Challenger 10 event at South Surrah Ministries Complex in Kuwait City to win his 11th successive PSA final.

Since joining the PSA in 2005, the 25-year-old left-hander has finished as runner-up only three times in 17 final appearances - and is unbeaten in finals since winning the Progetto 6 Open in Italy in December 2010.

Top seed Al Mezayen brushed aside all-comers in straight games to reach the Burgan Bank final - where he met surprise opponent Iqbal.

The unseeded Pakistani teenager had created his own impressive run by making the final against expectations after ousting Malaysia's No2 seed Muhd Asyraf Azan 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 in the semi-finals.

With three PSA title triumphs in the past five months, the 18-year-old world No69 from Bannu was appearing in his fourth final in five events since October last year.

But Al Mezayen was too strong for the Pakistan youngster. Now boasting a career-high world No38 ranking, the Kuwaiti despatched Iqbal 11-9, 11-7, 11-4 to win the 14th PSA title of his career - and his ninth on home soil.
