I was very pleased to have the
opportunity to see the AirSquash court as it could certainly play a
part in development and promotions in many environments with its speedy
inflation and general configuration.

WSF Chief Executive |

I attended the court demonstration at
the club with Lee and Mick.
First impression, once the court was inflated, which was a quick
process, was favourable.
Obviously, at my age, I didn't try it, but watched the brilliant Sam
Todd in action. He soon got going.
It seemed a very good idea for promotional purposes at major events
and at private parties. Children would love it.
I think Lee and Mick
both felt the same as I did in that respect.
It seemed to be reasonably priced to me and for official bodies and
a consortium of clubs to have access could only be good. Official
bodies for use at tournaments, clubs for parties etc.
Hope it succeeds.

It took a bit longer than what I
thought to erect it, around 30mins.
Apart from that when it was up it looked very impressive & certainly
eye catching.
It was erected on part of our car park and most of the squash players,
especially the ladies, came to have a look and try it out.
My boy Sam, aged 8, couldn't get enough of it and played against the
designers son and continued afterwards .... asked what it was like he
said "AWESOME".
We all thought it had great potential and value as a promotional tool
at tournaments and galas and other outside events to get people 'outside
the box' to have a go at the game of Squash or certainly give them
an overall touchy feely insight.
Overall I was impressed and just gave the AirSquash team a few more
ideas to work with.

There have been some pretty
exciting times for AirSquash lately, as the
AirSquash Court
went on
tour to offer opportunities for viewing and testing it out.
The team, consisting of
Phillip Romm,
Benny Iyassu
and David Kandra, took off on the Wednesday, passing through the Netherlands, Belgium and France,
to
finally set foot on British soil in Dover the next day. The
final destination was Glasgow in Scotland, but there was plenty more to
see on the way.

QUEENS CLUB - WISPA
The
first presentation was to take place at The
Queen's Club in the heart of London in front of WISPA
representatives, where we met with WISPA CEO Ingrid
Lofdahl-Bentzer, and WISPA representatives Stewart
Binns, Sam Mueller, Jenny Tranfield and Elliot Selby.
Only an hour later the court appeared in Southgate to show
Andrew Shelley, Chief Executive of the WSF, our idea of
mobile Squash.

PONTEFRACT - PSA
Next day and next stop was the Pontefract Squash & Leisure
Club. Club owner Mick Todd was there to welcome us,
along with Malcolm Willstrop as well as Lee Beachill,
PSA COO.
Sam Todd, Mick's son, and future squash star, was only too
happy to try it, and seemed to enjoy himself.

MANCHESTER then
GLASGOW
Passing through Manchester to visit England Squash and
Racketball, and after 1250 km the
AirSquash team then finally
arrived in Glasgow on Friday evening.
In
the context of the “3 years to go” festival in the
City of Glasgow, the Scottish Squash Federation made
use of the AirSquash Court to draw attention to Scottish
Squash for the Commonwealth Games 2014.
The AirSquash Court was the centre of the federation's event
on George Square.
MiniSquash Walls were lined up on both sides of the court
and federation representatives handed out flyers and
vouchers for Squash in Scotland. Banner ads all
around the court completed the package and helped execute
the event at a very high performance level.
The weather was great, feedback was overwhelming and all
sides were happy!

AVON SQUASH
Early on
Sunday evening the AirSquash team hit the road heading
south again. In Bristol, the court was set up in
front of the the Avon Squash Team, including Jan Ellis, as well as
Jethro
Binns representing Squash Skills.
I was impressed with the ease which
the court could be set up and how transportable it was.
My main concern was how it 'played' and even though I personally
didn't try it those who did commented how well it performed.
What was even more impressive was that even nationally ranked juniors
said it was brilliant !!!

Wherever
we went, the reaction was always the same:
Positive, surprised and happy
- Positive about
the appearance and easy handling of the AirSquash Court.
- Surprised about
the Squash you are actually able to play on it…
- and happy about
an innovation with plenty of potential for the Squash
World.

LEE BEACHILL TRIED
IT FOR YOU
What was your first impression of the court? It was intriguing!
How do you think it measures up to a real court? It doesn’t, but then again I don’t think it is supposed to. The ball
and surfaces react completely differently to a normal squash court
which was completely expected.
Did you have fun trying it? Yes,
it was good fun due to the unpredictability.
Do you think it's a good idea? I think it is great idea to get kids hitting a ball with a racquet
against a wall (well sort of!), and could be a good introduction to the
real thing.
I could imagine it working well alongside a big event or as a
promotion in schools, shopping centres etc. |
